Rita Trefois
Belgium
Batik
Cotton, reactive
dyes, resin, plywood
Rita’s
passion for batik grew from previous studies in textile chemistry and
ornamental art in the early 1970s and
has fostered in her the conflict between technical skills and free creation.
A
subtle balance between thirsty fabric, hot liquid wax and dye opened an
exciting world for Rita, in which the technique was tested in all its facets.
Somewhere
halfway, between skill and inspiration, she creates a field of tension where
works of art flourish.
To this
day she has been able to perfect her capability to capture her emotions in
modern paintings.
She
also likes to pass on her experiences during training courses and short
workshops in her own studio or as a guest teacher at home and abroad.
This Batik can be seen at High Five Art in Baarle Nassau
The below batik is on show in Leiden at Galerie Zone
